Hi there! Welcome to my site. My name is Ali Dart and I am a therapist in private practice in Norman, Oklahoma. I work with individuals and families in my office in Norman and via tele-health throughout the state. My passion is helping people feel connected, empowered, and ready to face life's challenges. Whether that challenge is trauma (big or small), a relationship rupture or mismatch, mood disorders, behavior challenges, or something else, I would be honored to walk alongside you as we make sense of it together. I hope you feel great about taking the first step. Please take a look around and get a sense of my background and approach. If you decide we might be a good fit, please submit the interest form to get started. See you soon!

What
I can offer
Please read on to learn more about my therapy services for young children and adults.
Psychotherapy for Adults
I work with adults who are coming to therapy for parenting concerns, adult attachment or relationship concerns, anxiety and mood disorders, ADHD, adjustment issues and life transitions (divorce, separation, loss, work stressors, etc.), or issues related to family of origin. My favorite clients are overwhelmed, stressed, driven, worried they are doing life wrong, feeling like an imposter, and trying to figure out this whole adulting thing. If you consider yourself highly sensitive or a hot mess, you've come to the right place.

Becoming a parent is life-changing. Whether you are beginning your parenting journey or you have finally found the breathing room to reflect on it, I would love to support you in this important, (sometimes) joyful, but extremely challenging endeavor. Parenting pushes us to our limits, but it also transports us back to our own childhoods, giving us a chance to replicate the best parts and come to terms with the worst. Our experience of being parented can have a profound impact on the way we parent our own children. Maybe you were yelled at as a child and now you find yourself yelling too. The criticism in our childhood becomes our harsh inner critic in adulthood. If you are trying to chart a new path or finally end generational trauma, it's not easy. It's like learning to speak a new language without a guide. Through my specialized training in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health (IMH-E),I work with parents on both the practical how-to's of more positive parenting and the deep, heavy work of healing our own attachment injuries. My role is to wonder with you about what's getting in the way and to help you develop the loving, trusting relationships you've always wanted.
As a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Provider (PMH-C), I am trained to help moms and/or dads with perinatal anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, and other issues in a non-judgmental way and to walk alongside you as you make decisions about your desired birth plan, medications, feeding, and caring for yourself and your baby.

I am also a Certified ADHD Clinical Services Provider, so if you have been diagnosed with ADHD or ASD or you are wondering if you may have awesomely different wiring, I can help. I love talking with adults about neurodiversity and the challenges as well as the super powers that go along with it. I like to help both kids and adults find the right balance between acceptance (and, really, I want you to love who you are) and personal growth. That may mean helping you grieve the time you lost trying to fit into the wrong box, hiding and masking, probably stressed, overwhelmed, and beating yourself up about it. Or you may be ready to learn more about how your nervous system works and how to hack your brain and make your environment fit YOU better. A big part of ADHD is emotional reactivity. You may be a big feeler and you've spent your life being told you overreact, you are too sensitive, or you are too much. We can talk about that. I'm here for all of it.
I can also offer the Making Sense of Your Worth program in an individual therapy format. Services for adults are offered in the office or via a secure telehealth platform.
(Masks are no longer required in the office, but I am more than happy to wear my mask upon request.)
Psychotherapy for Children 0-9
I work with infants and young children and their caregivers to resolve trauma, attachment issues, mood disorders, and behavior issues. I have a wide range of experience and extensive training with younger children and I can tailor my approach to the client and presenting problems. Depending on the age and developmental level of your child, I may meet with them individually or you may participate as a dyad (caregiver and child participating in sessions together). I am rostered in Child Parent Psychotherapy, which is an evidence-based treatment model using dyadic work to address trauma, attachment, and other concerns in infants, toddlers, and preschoolers (under age 6). With young children and babies, the parent-child relationship is the client rather than the parent OR the child.
With elementary-aged children, therapy may focus on the individual or family, depending on the issues and needs. I am trained in many evidence-based treatment models, including Circle of Security Parenting, Trauma-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), and clinical services for ADHD and ASD. We will work together to determine the best fit for your child and your family.
Regardless of the modality, I work very closely with caregivers. You make the greatest impact on your child's emotional health and you are also the expert on your child, so you are invaluable to the process. Our goal will be to help your child feel valued and free to explore the world with you as their secure base. I also want to be a resource to help you with parenting or developmental concerns as they arise. I love working with parents to make parenting more positive and rewarding.

Children's sessions are primarily held in the office, but telehealth is also available for your convenience and/or safety. I have had good treatment outcomes for telehealth with elementary aged children, but children generally enjoy therapy in the office more than meeting on the computer. (Masks are no longer required in the office, but I am more than happy to wear my mask upon request.)
